No matter which direction your blog goes in, it will all start with one big decision:  what software are you going to use?

Choose fairly wisely, because whatever your blog turns into will be a by-product of the software you choose - different software means different options, bells, and whistles.  If you pick wrong, you may be forced with the dreaded task of migrating from one blogging platform to another.  It can be done, yes.  But it isn't pretty or fun.  It's well worth it to spend some time finding available options, where they will take you, and doing your research now to try and stop those headaches from happening later down the road.

In the next few articles, we'll take you down the rabbit hole and give you a look at what different Blogging platforms have to offer.  Making these decisions carefully is important - if just to keep the frustration at bay.  We'll talk about some of the differences between some of the most popular packages available, and touch on the benefits and detriments of each.
