Budgeting for Software
Many of the Hosted options of software for new bloggers tend to be free, at least at their basic level. Also, there are some really great NonHosted Blogging Packages that are also free, the caveat being that the Web Server you need to install them on is anything but free. Making a decision about how much money you can commit to your beautiful new blog is the golden rule for deciding what platform you should use.

Some packages are free. Others are not. In some cases the packages could be free for personal use, but if you want to make money off your blog, they will cost you.Domains:
If you choose a Non-Hosted or Hosted website, you can always buy a Domain (also called a Domain Name or a Web Address). These costs are generally per year.Upgrades:
Sometimes you may choose a package with a certain price, but there can be an extra cost or fee to upgrade that software at some point. Blogging software is like many other pieces of software, and will eventually need an update.Web Hosting:
The biggest cost is usually for a Web Server. If you pick a platform that needs to be installed on a Web Server, you need Web Hosting.A Web Designer:
Unless you can code, you may need to hire a Web Designer or a Developer to build your website, install it, and get things moving. Those people don't work for exposure.Support:
If you have questions about your Platform or Web Server, it may cost some money to get an answer. Some packages or Hosting setups have support included free. Always check what the policies are.Extras:
You might find some need add-ons or plug-ins that will add some little extra features to your website. Those can cost.
