Using Instagram to Grow Your Blog

Instagram isn't just a place for horrible selfies and snapshots of meals at various stages of enjoyment. Sure, it's a very popular place for both those things - and cats too - but it's also a hell of a lot more.
It's a social network. It's a network of engaged, active individuals, many of whom love to read blogs. So, why isn't your blog on Instagram already?

A lot of Instagrammers are visual learners, and visual people, and we all love a good magazine full of glossy pictures. (I read the articles, I swear!) Recently Instagram has become a great place to visually find new things - many bloggers use it as their favourite social media platform. It's a great way to interact with current readers, and find new readers who wouldn't otherwise know you even exist.
It takes mere seconds to upload an image of your day, what's happening, and show off how you work. Tweets are great, but nothing evokes engagement like a great picture.
Instagram is easy to interact with. People have begun to check in much more often on Instagram then they would on Facebook. It's easy to scroll through a feed of images while waiting at meetings, waiting for kids at soccer practice, or even in the grocery line. Seriously. I check my Instagram in the grocery line.  The more you pop up in a feed - any feed - the more popular and familiar your name and brand become. And it only takes one tap for users to engage

    People love to share.

Lots of them snap images of their morning, their work, their hobbies, and especially their kids. And with Instagram, people don't just share and leave, they keep scrolling around. This is where people are, and its taking visual blogging to a new level.

Instagram boasts 150 million monthly active users. 65 million images are uploaded everyday, resulting in one billion likes. Even a small slice of those numbers means you need content on InstagramInstagram says users are on its service for 3x longer than Pintrest and twice as long as Twitter.

Those are numbers you can't ignore

There's no pressure to be smart or witty: just snap a picture of something you are interested in, something you find cool and share it. People love behind the scenes, so go behind the scenes of your business, of what you do during the day. You'll be surprised at how easy it is to bring in new readers.

So, less work results in more eyes on your content? This is a no brainer.

So, again, why isn't your blog on Instagram already?
