    Plan Events with Facebook

Just about anything you can do in person is easier on Facebook.  While Facebook isn't meant to be a replacement for face-to-face interactions, it can offer a way to interact when face time isn't possible.  Two of the best tool for this are Facebook Groups and Facebook Events.

    Facebook Groups

Facebook Groups are basically mini-websites where people can join or subscribe.  Groups can be small and imatimate )five of your best friends planning a bachelor party) or bigger and more practical - Parents of the Lower EastBrooke School, for example.

Groups can be used as support groups - a Multiple Sclerosis Support Group for Maine, for example - or just for fun.  My favourite FB Group is called 'When I Was Your Age, Pluto Was A Planet'.  Groups are ways for people to come together over a common interest or goal.  Depending on the Group's settings, members can invite other people to the group, receive messages, check on news, get updates, or upload and share photos or videos.

    FACEBOOK EVENTS

Events are similar to Group, but with a set time.  Rather than joining, users RSVP to these events, and that lets organizers plan ahead,  while giving attendees updates and reminders.  Facebook Events can be as small as a lunch meet and greet or as big as a political rally in Washington.  Sometimes, Events aren't physical events - thing creating a  'Take your Child to Work day' and inviting as many people as possible to create awareness.

At Facebook HQ, the company uses Events to plan meetings, trips, outings, happy hour and more.
